We are delighted to announce that Paul Collier will be judge for the second Future of Capitalism competition.
Paul Collier is the author of The Future of Capitalism, Refuge, the Bottom Billion, and other books on social and economic reform. Born and bred in South Yorkshire, the son of parents who left school aged 12, he was fortunate to be accepted by Oxford University where he is now Professor of Economics and Public Policy.
Paul comments “As an economist, I have learned that decentralized, market-based competition – the vital core of capitalism – is the only way to deliver prosperity, but it can be detrimental to society without a counterbalance to address broader social needs. If economic success is combined with a level of social responsibility, then the whole of society can benefit. This competition aims to achieve that balance through encouraging capitalism with a social conscience.”
